Abaca
- For the period October to December 2022, production of abaca fiber expanded from
15.58 thousand metric tons in the same quarter of2021 to 16.03 thousand metric tons or about2.9 percent this year. - Bicol Region was the top abaca fiber producer with
5.39 thousand metric tons and contributed the highest percentage of33.6 percent to the country’s total abaca production for this quarter. This was followed by Eastern Visayas and Davao Region with18.0 percent and14.7 percent shares, respectively. - Area planted with abaca from July to December 2022 was
127.06 thousand hectares, posting a decrease of-3.0 percent compared to last year’s area planted of130.98 thousand hectares in the same period.
